Victoria Cassandra Josey Friend was born May 30, 1956 in Bradenton, FL to Willie Benjamin Josey and Antoinette Beverly Williams, both deceased.

She lived in Florida until the age of eight years old, at which time she moved with her family to Winston- Salem, North Carolina. Victoria attended Parkland High School and upon graduation from high school she entered Winston-Salem State University where she studied Education with an emphasis on teaching behaviorally and emotionally handicapped students. Upon graduation with her Bachelor of Science degree she worked in the Winston- Salem Forsyth County School system teaching special needs students. She worked full time for the WSFC school system while pursuing her Master’s degree from Appalachian State University.

Victoria married James C. Friend, her "Dunklin", on October 25, 1986 after dating for almost ten years. And who was by her side until the end of her life.

Victoria is also survived by five sisters, Carol Linton (Paul), Monique Saunders, Rosalyn Wright, Charlene Armstrong, and Stephanye Bauer; three brothers, Dwight Josey (Cynthia), Dwayne Josey, and Clinton Josey; her best friends, Brigitte Wilks and Lynn Jackson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a multitude of other friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Donald Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:15am until 12noon on Friday at the Church. b30 May 1956-d13 Jul 2013
