JOSEY – Roy L -
Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by
the love of his family, on September 20, 2011 at the age of 90. Born in Halifax, Roy was the son of the late Lester Neil
and Elizabeth May Josey (Hartlen). Roy served in World War II in the Princess
Louise Fusiliers and was owner of Roy L Josey Furniture and Appliances, Quinpool Rd, for many years. He was a life member
of the Mayflower Curling Club, Past President of NorWest
Seniors Club, one of the original builders of St. Phillip's Church, played
hockey until his late 30's and bowled for many years in the Bowlarama
Seniors Bowling League.
Roy, with son, Harris, was a regular
entertainer at the Rehabilitation Centre and Melville Gardens by singing the "old
favorites" for them. Roy and Joyce enjoyed many years at their cottage in Piggott Lake and their trailer at Hubbards Campgrounds. "Forever young," Roy especially loved dancing and family
gatherings. He will be sadly missed by daughter, Sharron
(Mahone Bay), sons David (Sharon Clarke), Harris (Laura),
Ron (Terri Zinck), best friend and soul mate, Pat
Perrin, sister Audrey Simpson, Hamilton, Ont, and his
grandchildren, Shawn, Andrew , Joanne, Jeremy, Stewart and Iain
Josey
. Roy was predeceased by his wife of 63
years, Joyce, as well as daughter Nancy; brothers
Carl, Don, Robert and sisters, Helen White and June Josey. Cremation has taken
place. Visitation will take place at Cruikshanks
Funeral Home,
Windsor
Street , 2 – 5 pm Friday, September 23. Funeral service
will be held Saturday, September 24, 2 pm, at St. Phillips Anglican church
(Apostles Anglican Church), corner Bayers Rd. and Connaught Ave. Those wishing to make a donation in Roy's memory may do so to the Heart and
