JOSEY, Robert Robert Elwood Josey, age 85, of Summerville SC,
died Tuesday, April 10th 2007 at a local nursing facility. He was born on August 20th,
1921 in Riverton, Wyoming to Walter Josey and Etta Snyder Josey. Robert served his country in
the United States Navy, the Coast Guard, and the Merchant Marines. He retired
as Captain in the Military Sealift Command, Atlantic, after 32 years of service. He collected coins
and stamps from all over the world, and loved to play the organ, especially
the old-time songs. Robert married Darcus Deaton on
March 22nd, 1951
and they had 56 years together. They had no children, but had numerous nieces
and nephews. He was a member and Deacon of Park Circle Presbyterian Church, North Charleston. He is survived by his wife: Darcus
Deaton Josey of Summerville SC;
sisters-in-law: Peggy Stewart (Lee) of Rock Hill SC,
Elene M. Deaton (Richard) of Charleston SC,
and Rose Deaton (Martin) of Wilmington NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert Josey's honor to the
Presbyterian Home, 201 West Ninth North Street, Summerville SC 29483 or to
Park Circle Presbyterian Church, 4701 Park Place W, North Charleston
SC 29405. Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, April 13th 2007 at the Presbyterian Home Chapel, 201 West Ninth
