A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mary Nell Josey Thompson, 77, of Lugoff, SC, will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Eric Boone will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:30 PM, Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P. O. Box 810, Memphis, TN 38101.

Mary Nell died Friday, February 10, 2017. She was born in Statesville, NC, the daughter of the late David Sidney Josey and Nellie Mae Westmoreland Josey. She was a member of the Rowan Presbyterian Church. Mary Nell was a retired school bus driver with the Kershaw County School District in Lugoff, a former meat wrapper with the Camden Piggly Wiggly and the Elgin IGA. Mary Nell enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Katrina Cobb (Keith) of Lugoff, and Sebrina Thompson of Irmo; son, Aaron Thompson (Wanda) of Elgin, 4 grandchildren, Brooke Coob, Lauren Glenn (Carl), Gavin Thompson and Garrett Thompson; 3 great-grandchildren, Owen Cobb, Cooper Glenn and Lydia Glenn; 3 sisters, Brenda Walker (Harry), Patricia Josey, and Vickli Rufty, all of Statesville, NC. She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers, Ray, Richard, Harold, and Don Josey.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
