Maria Kitchin Walston, 86, died Saturday, June 4, 2011.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck. Interment will follow at the Baptist Cemetery. The Reverend Doctor Allen Cherry will be presiding.

Maria was a loving mother and mother-in-law. Her greatest passion was spending time alone with her Lord. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Maria was a graduate of Meredith College and was a primary school teacher.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Hodge Kitchin, Sr. and Lydia Josey Kitchin; her brother, Leland Hodge Kitchin, Jr.; and her sister, Bruce Kitchin Moye.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Jean Dickey Waters and husband Billy of Scotland Neck; son, Robert Warren Dickey and wife Joelle of Scotland Neck; sister-in-law, Anne Lovelace Kitchin of Scotland Neck; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck.

Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
