Matthews Josey Lurline Matthews Josey, 95, of Laurel, passed away Wednesday,
Sept. 21, 2005,
at her residence. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in
Laurel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel. Interment
will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Laurel. The Revs.
Russell Cottingham and Eddie Bryant will officiate.
The widow of Fred Josey, Mrs. Josey was born on Nov. 28, 1909, to Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison
Matthews of the Pleasant Home Community. She was a longtime member of Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She sang in the choir and
participated in many of the women's organizations. She is survived by her son,
Dr. Larry Josey and his wife, Ann, of Clemson, S.C.; her grandsons, Rene' and
Marty Josey of Florence, S.C. and Russ Josey of Pensacola, Fla.; her
granddaughters, Tanya and Ray Fouts of Cleveland,
Ohio, Jo Carol and Eric Rogers of Greenville, S.C. and Kathryn and Grant
Johnson of Seattle, Wash. Pallbearers will be John Matthews, Dick Smith, Billy
Langley, Bill Wagnan, Leonard Josey and Randy Smith.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to hospice or
a charity of your choice. Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of
arrangements
