Mrs. Lawanda Josey Smith, age 55, of Heards Bridge Road in Bartow passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the University Hospital in Augusta following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 6th, in the Josey Baptist Church with burial in the Josey Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Vina Mae Josey and Reverend Inman Gerrald will officiate. Pallbearers will be Nick Everett, Jeff Flemister, Matt Lindsey, Blake Joiner, Jerald Josey and Larry Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Aiken South Carolina; the daughter of the late Hansen Josey and the late Betty Jean Lowe Josey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Josey Baptist Church.

Survivors are: her husband, Donald “Donnie” Smith of Bartow; her children, Donald Smith, Jr. and his wife Tina of Gibson, Garon Smith and his wife Leslie of Savannah and Heather Hodges and her husband Bruce of Harrison; four grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Ethan Smith, Eli Smith and Amber Hodges; a brother, Jerald Josey and his wife Angie of North Augusta; two sisters, Renee Smith and her husband Larry of Sandersville and Angie Burkett of Bath, SC.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
