Mike Josey,
age 44, of Crestview, Fla.,
passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008.
He was born in Pensacola, Fla.,
on Nov. 22, 1963, and
was a lifelong resident of Crestview. Mike graduated from Crestview
High School in 1981 where he played
football for the Bulldogs. He then attended Okaloosa-Walton
College and earned his associate
degree in 1983. He was also employed by CHELCO for 10 years where he worked
as a Right of Way Agent and a manager of Marketing Services. Mike owned and
operated Josey Plan Services, which he opened in 1995, and started Mike Josey
Construction in 2003. Mike attended Woodlawn
Baptist Church
and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves 919th CE Squadron at Duke
Field. He was president elect of the Builders Industry Association, former
president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lions Club, and chair
of the Parade of Homes.
Mike is survived by his son, Wesley Josey; his daughter, Danielle Josey; his
mother, Glenda Kirkland and her husband Leroy; his father, Jerry Josey; his
twin brother, Mark Josey and wife Lisa; and Delisa
Josey, the mother of his children, all of Crestview; as well as numerous
aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.
at the First Baptist
Church in Crestview.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 2 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Foster Families of
America (fosterfamiliesofamerica.org)

choice in honor of Mike and his endeavors.
The BIA has established a memorial scholarship fund to aid Mike's children
and/or create a perpetual scholarship at a local school for individuals
pursuing a career in the building industry. If you wish to donate to the fund
please make your check payable to the BIA and enter Mike Josey Memorial
Scholarship on the memo line. Checks may be dropped off or mailed to the BIA
at 1980 Lewis Turner Blvd., Fort
Walton Beach, FL 32547.
A trust fund is also being set up at Covington Community Bank in Crestview
for Mike's children, Wesley and Danielle.
Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home is entrusted with services.
