John Franklin Josey

Deceased Name: John F. Josey Sr.

John F. Josey Sr., 87, went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 1997.

Born in Starkville, Miss., he was a resident of the area for the past 53 years. Mr. Josey was employed by Akron Equipment, retiring in 1972 after 25 years of service, and was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple.

Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam, in 1972, and son, Robert Earl, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John F. Jr. and Mary, Steve and Nancy; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Schonover; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elvyn and Anna Josey, J. P. and Maurine Josey; and sisters, Nola Mae Griffing, Doris Daniels, and Florence Phillips.

Funeral service will be Monday, 11 a.m., at the Hopkins Lawver UNIONTOWN Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St., with Rev. Wes Kent officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. (Hopkins Lawver, Uniontown, 733-6271.)
