Tribute
Jimmy Milton Josey, 91, of Bryan,
passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2021, and went to be with his
Lord and Savior. Jimmy was born on November 19, 1929, to Frank and
Bessie Josey in Hempstead,
Texas,
and later moved to Bellville, where he graduated high school, attended Blinn College
and served in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Alice Carroll on May 18, 1962,
and they settled in Hempstead
and raised their three children; Scott, Keith and Sandi. Jimmy started his own
insurance agency and real estate company and was actively involved with the
community. He was an avid follower of Jesus Christ and served in many
capacities with the Baptist church. His favorite pastime activities included
golf, flying, snow skiing, and hunting.
Jimmy and Alice retired from the agency and
moved to the Hill Country in Stonewall, Texas,
where he spent a lot of time raising horses, cattle, sheep and goats. They
recently moved back to Bryan,
Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank
and Bessie Josey, and his brother, Frank Josey Jr.
Survivors include his spouse of 59 years, Alice
Josey; his sister, Hazel Reid and her husband David; his children, Scott Josey,
Keith Josey and his wife Judy, and Sandi Bainbridge and her husband Doug; as
well as his grandchildren, Daniel (Erica) Josey, Grant (Katy) Josey, Emily
(Hayden) Smith, Luke Josey, Zach Josey, Reese Josey, Sarah (Matt) Wilkins,
David Bainbridge, Jonathan Bainbridge, Andrew Bainbridge, and his 5 great
grandchildren.
Jimmy's life will be honored with services at 2:00 pm
on Saturday, July 31, at First Baptist Church, 3100
Cambridge Dr., Bryan,
Texas,
77802.
All guests are invited to join the family for a reception immediately following
the service in the fellowship hall. There will be a private family burial at Bryan City Cemetery
and there will be no public visitation. Jimmy's grandsons will pay tribute by
serving as pallbearers.
