James Carlyle Josey

 

GREENWOOD - James Carlyle Josey, 82, retired soil conservationist with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture after 30 years, died Saturday at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church, where he had been an administrative board member and Sunday school teacher, with burial in Oktibbeha Memorial Park in Starkville. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home has charge. A former vocational education teacher, he had recieved the Outstanding District Conservationist in Mississippi award in 1969. Josey, the husband of Lenoir Cox Josey, leaves three daughters, Mrs. LeNoir J. Booth of Prentiss, Mrs. Virginia Bush of Clarksdale and Mrs. Dot Crocker of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Eedra Webber of Houston; t wo brothers, Hunter Josey of Gardendale, Ala., and R. E. Josey of Starkville, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
