Hilda Jeanette Josey Sloan

Hilda Jeanette Josey Sloan, 85, passed away Friday October 27, 2023. She was born July 8, 1938 in Iredell County to the late William Ross Josey and Fannie Huie Josey. Hilda worked 14 years at Rubbermaid in Statesville and retired from Walmart in Statesville. Mrs. Sloan loved to watch baseball, playing games on her tablet, and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Wendell Sloan; brothers John Josey, Randy Josey. Surviving are her children Jan Sloan, Doris (Darrel) Reavis, Denise (Alton) Clifton, Dale (Julie) Sloan; grandchildren Ethan Sloan, Austin (Liliana) Sloan, Rhiannon (Erik) Spencer, Katie Mabe (Marlin deceased), Andrew (Karmen) Clifton; great grandchildren Max, Stevie, McKayla, Marleigh Kate, Charlie, Kaydence, Kasden, Kassel; four sisters Barbara Setzer, Shirley (Sam) Hauser, Sharon (Howard) Moyer, Retha Tatum; K-9 Foxy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 1, 2023 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by Rev. Stephen Evans. Burial will follow Hunting Creek Friends Church Cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff at Wilkes Rehab and her sister Retha Tatum for the loving care given to Mrs. Sloan. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Sloan family.
