Josephine Josey Jones, age 87, of Tallahassee Florida, passed away peacefully with family members present at Tapestry Senior Living in Tallahassee, FL, on May 31, 2017. Mrs. Jones was born in Miller County, Georgia, and was the second of seven children of Emory Winson (Bob) Josey and Lucile Grimes Josey. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy R. Jones, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her three children: Sheila Rawls Cone (Kenneth Cone), Destin, FL and Highlands, NC; B. Lynn Rawls (Camille Bowden Rawls) Tallahassee, FL; and Emory Scott Rawls (Cindy Brown Rawls) Havana, FL. She is also survived by three sisters: Bobbye Josey May; Emily Josey Head; Janis Josey Harris (Bobby); nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She began her career as a secretary at Publix Corporate Headquarters in Lakeland, FL; became a secretary for the Commanding Officer at Southern Air Base, Bainbridge, GA; a legal secretary in Quincy, FL; and worked for the Florida Senate Standing Committee for Governmental Reorganization and Efficiency.

She was a charter member of Killearn United Methodist Church. She belonged to several Bridge clubs and her passions were playing Bridge and spending time with her friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Tapestry Senior Living of Tallahassee for the love and care shown to our Mother during her time there. Also, our appreciation is extended to the staff of the Big Bend Hospice of Tallahassee for the special care given to her and the comfort provided to our family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Chipley, FL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road. A memorial service and interment will be held there, on Monday, June 12, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, Inc., 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, Fl 32308.
