Obituary of Gerald Josey

Dr. Gerald Josey        August 11, 1942- October 7, 2017

Dr. Gerald Josey was called home to the Father on October 7, 2017. He was 75 years old.

His life and memory will be treasured by his wife, Jean, of 52 years. He had two children, a daughter, Leigh Vaughn, and a son, Joseph Josey, as well as a foster son, Marc Boice, who loved him. His three granddaughters, Leisa, Megan, and Erin Vaughn, will forever cherish their memories of their Granddaddy and will wait patiently to see him again. He is also survived by his sister, Rochelle Dorn. Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, Marion Josey, and his son-in-law, Donald Vaughn.

Gerald entered the ministry in the early 1970s and devoted his life to spreading the Gospel. As an honored member of Global Christian Ministry Forum, he spent years traveling the country, and sometimes, the world, sharing the Word of God. He earned his doctorate degree in Divinity from Northwestern Theological Seminary. Gerald was also a proud member of the National Guard and the Sumter Guard.

He will be greatly missed by his family, including all his brothers and sisters in Christ. He influenced many lives and will be remembered fondly by all those he touched. God made him a special spirit and he worked to share the gifts of God with everyone.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens on Mathis Ferry Road. A memorial service will follow in November.
