Ervin J Josey

Ervin "Sambo" Josey, 71, of Brinson, Ga., died Sunday.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Bainbridge, Ga (912-246-4411), with burial at Colquitt City Cemetery in Colquitt, Ga. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Box 171, Gardner Road, Brinson, GA 31725.

A lifelong resident of Decatur County, Ga., he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Merchant Marines. He worked for Cannon's Jewelers, Bell Jewelers and Kres Jewelers in Bainbridge and was a watchmaker and jeweler for Gray Jewelry Store in Blakely for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a former member of Orion Lodge No. 8 & A.M. of Bainbridge and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ollie Bridges Josey of Brinson; a son, Ronnie Josey of Cairo, Ga.; two sisters, Evelyn Smith of Eldorendo, Ga., and Ila Reed of Brinson; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.
