Elsie Dale
Josey Wright passed away Friday, Feb. 28, after a short illness. Elsie was
married to L.L. Blackie Wright for 30 years. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Elsie grew up on a cotton farm west of Post, Texas. After graduating from Texas Tech,
Elsie taught school for 48 years. She began her career in Close City then Post before moving to Lubbock. During her 40 year tenure at LISD,
Elsie taught at Sanders and Thompson schools before teaching at Bowie
Elementary where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year by LISD. She loved
children and was a long time member of Green Lawn Church of Christ. Survivors
include one son, Mike Wright; four grandchildren, Justin Wright and his wife,
Joanna and their two sons, Henry and Charlie, Jared Wright, Matthew Wright, and
Micah Wright Lykins and her husband, Colby. She is
also survived by her Josey family, Theona Josey, RE
and Martha Josey, Roy and Loveta Josey, Royce Josey
and Sandee Cross, Don and Joyce Josey Tatum, Charles
and Loyce Josey Phillips; and numerous beloved nieces
and nephews. Elsie had a gentle, giving spirit and a great love of God and
family. She was a loyal and devoted teacher and family member and exhibited a
tremendous work ethic. She will be missed greatly. Services will be held at
Green Lawn Church of Christ at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, with burial to
follow at Resthaven Funeral Home.
