Allen R. Josey, 95
Grafton - Allen R. Josey, 95, of South Grafton, died Monday, January 28, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
His wife, Lucille M. (Patient) Josey died in 2006. He leaves a son, Robert A. Josey and his wife, Elaine of Douglas; three daughters, Bernadette LeBlanc and her husband, Garry of South Grafton, Marguerite Burgoyne and her husband, Rick of Holden, ME and Lucille Vincent of South Grafton; thirteen grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Kevin, Michael, Sandra, Chad, Ronnie, Jennifer, Jessica, Deborah, Rebecca, Patricia and Jared; sixteen great grandchildren; a sister, Amy Varco of MI; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Marie E. Josey; a brother, Fred Josey and a sister, Marion Williams.
Allen was born in Allouez, Michigan the son of John A. and Minnie (Effinger) Josey.
He graduated from Calumet High School. He served in the Navy on many aircraft carriers in the Pacific during WW II. Allen was a 66 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 96. He was a member of the South Grafton VFW Post 1497, Sutton American Legion Post 414, USS Hornet Association, USS Lexington CV 16 Association, and a life member of the Retired Men's Club of Greendale.
Allen was a former parishioner of St. Stephen's Church and was in the parish pitch league for 25 years. He liked bowling and spending time with his family. He loved to travel and spent over 20 years wintering with his wife in Port Richey, FL.
Allen's funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2nd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb 1st in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the USS Hornet Museum, P.O. Box 460, Alameda, CA 94501.
