MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

April 2003 was a special time for Janeen, Emily, Joel, and me.  It was great having the House of Jossey-Josey Reunion in ValdostaGA.  We loved having kin folk from all over the USA visit in our home town for a fun-filled weekend that will provide memories for a lifetime. I have so many people to thank for their help with this Reunion.  To Janeen, Emily & Joel, Board of Directors, volunteers, and everyone who took time from their busy schedules to travel from places far and wide to come to Valdosta — I say, “Thanks to YOU!”

I saw a quote recently that I think applies to this part of my life.  It says, “Life is what happens to you while you are planning on doing something else.”  I did not plan on being President of the House of Jossey-Josey when I went to Scotland Neck, NC in 2001; but the Board of Directors talked me into it.  Serving as your President has been a great experience.  It has allowed me to receive far more than I have given to the organization.  So, for that, I thank all of you for your confidence and trust placed in me.

Now, we move forward to the next Reunion, which will be held in Ocean SpringsMS.  Priscilla Josey Knight and Melinda Josey Haynes, who are sisters, are currently busy planning the next Reunion for April 2005.  It takes a lot of work to plan and conduct a Reunion, so I encourage you to please volunteer to help Priscilla and Melinda any way you can.

As you probably know, I have agreed to another term as your President.  The Board of Directors is continuing to provide the support and leadership to ensure the House of Jossey-Josey family heritage and tradition.  We are working on the following initiatives:

·        Providing House of Jossey-Josey family genealogy information on Compact Discs (CDs) for purchase by family members who were not able to purchase a printed volume

·        Donating copies of the CDs to Libraries where large numbers of Jossey-Josey families reside

·        Updating and expanding the House of Jossey-Josey web site

www.thehouseofjossey-josey.org

·        Publishing the House of Jossey-Josey newsletter twice a year

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.  If you are ever in the Valdosta area, please drop by or give us a call.  You are always welcome – We’ll leave the light on for you!
