EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. DEED BOOK_ PAGE 301 20December 1804. WILLIAM JOSSEY to THOMAS SPARKMAN

This indenture made this Twentieth of day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight and Four. Between WILLIAM JOSSEY of the State of South Carolina & Salem County of the first part & mOMAS SPARKMAN of the County of Edgecombe & State of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that I, WJI..+IAM JOCEA (sic) for in consideralion of the sum of Five Hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by the>said THOMAS SPARKMAN, receipt whereof! do hereby acknowledge, myself fully satisfied & contented & paid, & I the said WilLIAM JOCEA (sic) hath hereby bargained, granted & sold & conveyed unto the said SPARKMAN, a certain tract or parcel ofland, and by these presence do fully, freely & absolutely bargain. grant, sell & confiml unto the said mOMAS SP ~N, his heirs & assigns, the aforesaid parcel of land situated lying & being in the County ofE4gecombe and State of North Carolina, & on the South side of Bear Bl1UlCh butted & bounded as followeth to witt. Begining in the Spring Branch a White Oak, then down the various courses of said Branch to the Bear Branch, thence up said Branch to JOSEPH COX line, thence along said-line to a Red Oak, thence along a line of marked LO a Red Oak, thence along said course line to the Road, thence along tbe Road to a comer, a Pine on WILLIAM ELLIS'S line, thence along said ELLIS'S line to a White Oak, a comer, thence

along his line to the first station; it being part of Two tracts ofland containing by estimation One Hundred & Fifty Nine & a Half acres, be the same more or less, being sold & conveyed & confirmed unto the said mOMAS SPARKMAN, his heirs & assigns forever above mentioned tract or parcel of land, together with all and singular the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said SP A.R.I<MAN, his heirs & assigns forever to his & their proper use and behoof and benefit for ever. I ~e-Wll..LIAM JOCEA (sic) for myself, my executors and administrators do covenant, promise and agree to & with the said SPARKMAN, his heirs & assigns, that he the said SPARKMAN, his heirs & assign,s from time to time and all times for ever peacebly and quietly, To have and to hold, possess, occupy, enjoy the aforesaid land and premises, & the same clearly acquit & discharge it & from all encumbrances whatsoever, & I the said JOCEA (sic) for myself, my heirs, executors&_admin. the aforesaid land & premises unto him the said SPARKMAN, his heirs & assigns against all manor of claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever, or any part thereof, & 1<;10 here by these presents, Warrant and forever defend the same.
