16 Dec 1787, PEGGY JOSEY to ROBERT JOSEY

This Indenture made this Sixteenth day of December One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven, Between PEGGY JOSEY of Halifax County and State of North Carolina of the one part and ROBERT JOSEY of the County and Province aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said PEGGY JOSEY for and in consideration of the natural Love and affection, which she bears to her Son the said ROBERT JOSEY, as also in consideration of Five shillings, to her in hand paid by the said ROBERT JOSEY, the said PEGGY JOSEY doth by nature of their presents, grant and lease all her right, title, and dower of a certain tract of land lying on the South side of Looking Glass Swamp, in the County aforesaid, formerly belonging to his Father JAMES JOSEY, dec'd. and the said PEGGY JOSEY do give up to him the said ROBERT JOSEY all her right, title claim and demand and dower of the said land after he comes to lawful age, during her natural life and do by nature of these warrant and defend the said title against any person or persons claiming by or under law. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written.
