23 October 1829    JOHN WEBB to WILLIAM JOSSEY & JANE JOSSEY

 

     Know all men by these presents, That whereas Mrs. JANE JOSSEY, the Wife of WILLIAM JOSSEY of Kershaw District in the State aforesaid, was the Widow of my late Father, JOHN WEBB formerly of the State and District aforesaid, and it is agreed, and consented  to, by all parties concerned, or interested, that the land herein after described be allotted to the said Mrs. JOSSEY for her right of Dower, in the Real Estate, of the said JOHN WEBB dec'd. Now Herefore,  I, JOHN WEBB of the same State, and District, being the Son, and only Child of the said dec'd, do hereby relinquish, and quit all manner of claim whatsoever, of, in, to, or one, all and singular, so much of that Two Hundred and Twenty Six acres Survey of land situate, in the said District, on the South West side of the Big Lynches Creek, and lies on the lower or South East side of the Old Path, leading from LOZINBIES old place, into the swamp of Lynches Creek, the premises hereby relinquished, on being bounded on its upper or Northwest side by the said Old Path, containing about One Hundred & Ninety acres more or less, whereon the said WILLIAM JOSSEY, and JANE his Wife now reside, the said Two Hundred and Twenty Six acres survey was originally granted to JOHN WEBB on the 2nd January 1809.  And I hereby bind myself, and my heirs forever to acknowledge the said premises to be the sole, and proper Right of the said WILLIAM JOSSEY and JANE JOSSEY his Wife, and their heirs forever. Witness my hand and seal this Twenty Third day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Nine, and in the Fifty Fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

     Personally came LOBICK YOUNG  before me, ALLEN McCASKILL a Justice of the Quorum for the said District, and being duly sworn, Declared  that he saw JOHN WEBB sign, seal, and as his act and deed, deliver the within instrument of writing to WILLIAM JOSSEY and JANE JOSSEY for the use and purpose therein set forth, and that the said execution was made and done in the presence of DREURY CLANTON, together with this deponent, whereupon they did immediately subscribe their names as witnesses to the same.  Sworn and subscribed before me this Seventh November 1829.
