            I JOHN POPE of Wilkes County and late of Georgia being in sound sense and memory but, calling to mind my state of Mortality and this certainty of death do make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament in the manor and form following.

            Viz Item 1:  My will is first that my burial be plain and neat, without pomp or parade, and that my Doctor Bill on my last illness be promptly paid, and as soon as possible all my just debts.

            Item 2:   I lend to my beloved wife ELIZABETH POPE the land & Plantation whereon and Plantations whereon I now live together with five Negroes (Viz)  WILL, and his wife LAVINA, NECEY, ANNIE and JERRY, also two good horses, two good cows & calves, two good feather beds and furniture with mat and cords, also fifty barrels of corn and two thousand weight of Pork with a suitable supply of household & kitchen furniture and also as many plantation tools as will answer her purpose, to carry on this farm. Also twenty bushels of wheat with two good sow & pigs and eight one year old hogs during her natural life, at her death or if she should marry, WILL and LAVINA shall become the property of my daughter LOUISA in the same manner as the property hereafter named for her, but not the increase of LAVINA which may arise before such death or marriage. My Will also is that LOUISA shall have her support out of my land and Plantation during her Mothers natural life and be equally entitled with my other children in her Mothers Dower.

            Item 3:  I lend my daughter HILDAH JOSSEY, one Negro Girl named RACHEL, now in her possession  Valued at Five Hundred Dollars, which girl and her increase is to be hers during her natural life, & then to be equally divided among her children.

            Item 4:  I lend my daughter KETURAH MATTHEWS, one Negro boy named HUTSON, now in her possession Valued at Four Hundred Dollars which boy is to be hers during her natural life and then to be equally divided among her children.

            Item 5:  I lend to my Daughter MARY L HENDERSON, one Negro Girl named EASTER, now in her possession Valued at Four Hundred Dollars, which Girl is to be hers during her natural life & then said EASTER,  and her increase is to be equally divided among her children.

            Item 6:  I Will to my Son WYLIE POPE, Eleven Hundred Dollars upon marriage or becoming of age.

            Item 7:  My last desire is that all my estate not heretofore disposed of be equally divided between my several children, (Viz),  HULDA JOSSEY,  KETURAH MATTHEWS, AUGUSTINE B POPE, MARY L HENDERSON, WYLEY POPE, MARTHA POPE, ROWENNA POPE and at the death of my beloved wife ELIZABETH, LOUISA shall receive an equal part of this property loaned to my wife ELIZABETH.

            Item 8:  I constitute & appoint HENRY JOSSEY & JAMES MATTHEW & AUGUSTINE POPE my executors.
