21 October 1802           JOHN JOSSEY  Will

 

     In the name of God, Amen. I, JOHN JOSSEY, being sick but in sound memory, considering the certainty of death, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament and as to my  worldly goods, I dispose of in the following manner.- Viz.  First my desire is that all my Just debts be settled.

     Item.-  I give to my Brother ROBERT JOSSEY, one note of hand I have against him to the amount of Eighty Dollars or upward.

     Item.-  I give and bequeath to my Niece SALLY WHITEHEAD, my negro fellow, FAIN, to her and her heirs forever.

     Item.-  I give to CATY and SALLY WHITEHEAD, my two horses to them and their heirs forever.

     Item.-  I give and bequeath to CATY WHITEHEAD, SALLY WHITEHEAD and PATSEY WHITEHEAD, all my land, stock of every kind, my crop and all my property not heretofore given away to them or their heirs forever.   I also nominate and appoint my friend WILLIAM WHITEHEAD JR., my executor, to this my Last Will and Testament, revoking and disannulling and disowning any other Will or Wills by me made heretofore acknowledging this to be my Last Will and Testament.  In witness whereof, I do set my hand and fix my seal this 21 st day of October 1802
