This Indenture made this day AD. Between HENRY JOSSEY of the State of North

Carolina & County of Halifax of the one part and JOHN SHlELDS of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said HENRY JOSSEY for & in consideration of the sum of One Hundred & ninety Dollars to him in h~d paid by the said JOHN SIllELDS

before the sealing & delivery of this presents the rectept whereof is hereby acknowledged. That he is fully satisfied paid. Have bargained soldo'&' delivered~confmned unto the said JOHN SHlELDS to his heirs & assigns, all and singular, a certain tract or parcel ofland lying & being in the County of Halifax & State oft-lorth Carolina adjoining the lands belonging to the Estate of WILLIAM LOWR Y dec'd. & others bounded as follows. Viz. Begining at a Pine, then North 76 West 70 poles to a Red Oak, then South 82West 35 poles to a Poplar, then South 74 West 20 poles to a Branch, then down the Branch to a White Oak, then West 54 poles to a Maple on Spring Branch, then down said Branch. to a corner Pine & Oak LOWRY'S line, then North 74 East 269 P9les to a Pine, then North 43 East 32 poles to a Branch, through the Branch to the begi4!ng, Conta!ting by estimation One Hundred Fifty Four acres, be the same more or less. And the said HENRY JOSSEY Exec'r & assigns doth for himself his heirs & assigns Warr~nt & forever defend the right & ti tie of said . land & premises with all the hereditaments & appurteru~l1ces as therewlto appertaining unto the said JOHN SlllELDS to his heirs or assigns forever aganst all & every other person or persons whatever. Then this deed was exhibited in open Court & proved by the oath of CHARLES SHIELDS a subscribing witness thereto & on motion it was ordered to be entered on the mini'tes & certified to be registered.
