This indenture
made and entered into this 22 day of August in the year of our Lord 1815, Between
LANDON ALSBROOK and FAMSEY ALSBROOK his wife of the County and State aforesaid
on the one-part, and the heirs of HENRY APPLEWIDTE dec'd of the State of North
Carolina, Halifax County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said LANDON
ALSBROOK and FAMSEY ALSBROOK for & in
consideration of the sum of One Hundred Pounds of the Currency of the State of
North Carolina to them in hand paid by the heirs of HENRY APPLEWIDTE dec'd the
receipt whereof the said LANDON ALSBROOK and FAMSEY ALSBROOK doth hereby
acknowledge. Hath given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do
give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said heirs of HENRY APPLEWIDTE dec'd, to
wit, ELIZABETH GODWIN who intermarried with THOMAS GODWIN and SARAH APPLEWHITE,
HENRY APPLEWHITE JR., & BUSHA
APPLEWHITE to them and their heirs & assigns forever,
The Half of certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the State of North Carolina, Halifax County, bounded as
follows. Beginning at a Red Oak on JAMES . BRANTLEY'S line in the old fields,
thence South 78 East 58 poles, then South 27

privileges to them the said heirs of HENRY
APPLEWHITE dec'd, To wit, ELIZABETH GODWlN the wife of THOMAS GODWIN, SARAH
APPLEWHITE, HENRY APPLEWHITE JR, and ELISHA APPLEWHITE their heirs & assigns forever. And we the said LANDON ALSBROOK and FAMSEY ALSBROOK
his wife doth by there presents covenant & agree to and with the said ELIZABETH GODWIN, SARAH APPLEWHITE, HENRY
APPLEWHITE JR.,& ELISHA APPLEWHITE to warrant the said land & premises
or our part, hereof to be free from all encumbrances whatsoever and doth by
these presents warrant & secure the said lands ~ premises to them the said
ELIZABETII GODWlN, SARAH APPLEWHITE, HENRY APPLEWHl1E JR. & BUSHA
APPLEWHITE to them & their heirs
& assigns forever against the right tile or claim of any person or persons
whatsoever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals. This

and State of Georgia. Know ye that we posing a special confidence in your fidelity
& provident circumspection do authorize and empower or
any of you that at such time and place as you shall appoint, you shall to come
before you FAMSEY ALSBROOK apart from her husband LANSOM ALSBROOK and her diligently
examine the holy Evangelists of Almighty God touching her for each execution of
a deed by her Said husband LANDON ALSBROOK to HENR Y APPLEWHITE heirs to wit,
ELIZABETII GODWIN, SARAH APPLEWHITE, HENRY APPLEWHITE JR. and ELISHA APPLEWHITE
and such examination by you taken you and to send Certified & enclosed under your hand & seals to the
next Court to be he held for the County of Halifax at the Court House in
Halifax on the third Monday in August next & this you are in
no wise to omit. Witness RICHARD EPPS Clerk of the said Court at Office the
third morning in May and in the 39th year of our independence Anno Domino 1815

JONES COUNTY In abeyance
to an order to us directed by RICHARD EPPS Clerk of Court of Halifax County and
State of North Carolina we have caused FAMSEY ALSBROOK the Wife of LANDON
ALSBROOK to come before us on her examination saith on oath that she doth
relinquish her claim to the within tract of land With out any fear, dread, or
compulsion of her said husband or any other person whatsoever doth freely & willingly relinquish her claim to the within named tract or parcel of
land. Sworn & subscribed to before us
this 23 day of August 1815
