CULLEN EDWARDS
to JAMES JOSEY
Know
all men by these presents that I, CULLEN EDWARDS, of Halifax County, in the
Province of North Carolina am held and firmly bound unto JAMES JOSEY of the
County and Province aforesaid, in the just and full sum of Two Hundred Pounds
Proclamation money to be paid unto the said JAMES
JOSEY, his certain attorney, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns to
which payment well and truly to be made. I bind myself, my heirs, executors and
administrators firmly by these presents sealed, sealed with my seal and dated
this 16th day of March A.D. 1776. The
condition of the above obligation is such,
that whereas the above mentioned JAMES
JOSEY, hath bargained and sold unto the above bound CULLEN EDWARDS, a Mill
together with Two Acres of Land for a valuable consideration, together with the
performances of covenants and restrictions as follows, That is to say the said CULLEN EDWARDS, his
heirs and assigns are to grind, toll-free, for the family of the said JOSEY, or his widow, so long as the Mill
shall be continued in the place where she now stands, and that the said
EDWARDS, or his heirs, shall reconvey the said Two Acres of Land to the said
JOSEY, or his heirs on the removal of the Mill from the place where she now
stands, and further the said EDWARDS, his heirs or assigns are not to feed Hogs
at the said Mill where she now stands: On the due performance of the before
mentioned covenants there the above obligation to be void or else to remain in
full force and virtue.
