CHARITY HORNE'S Will
In the name of God Amen. I, CHARITY HORNE of the County of Northampton and
State of North Carolina,
Being weak in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to
Almighty God for the same, but in calling to mind the mortality of our nature,
and that it is appointed for us once to die, do make and ordain this my Last
Will and Testament, in manner and from following, that is to say, FIRST. I give and bequeath my soul unto Almighty
God, who gave it to me hoping for acceptance with him through the merits of our
Lord Jesus Christ, and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my
executor hereafter named, as to my worldly Estate which it has been pleased God
to bless me with in this life; I give
and dispose of in the following manner: Viz: I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter
CHARITY JOSEY all the property that I
purchased at an Officers Sale at JAMES JOSEY'S,
consisting of one horse, one sow, and six pigs, six sitting chairs, one
bed and furniture, one pine chest, one pine table, three pewter plates, two
pewter casons, to her and her heirs forever. ITEM. I give and
bequeath to my Son's WILLIAM JOSEY, STEPHEN JOSEY, WILLIS JOSEY, my Daughter POLLY HORN, Wife of ELISHA HORN, my Grand Daughter
POLLY NARSWORTHY, and my Grand Daughter CHARITY JOSEY, all the property of
which I may die possessed, not otherwise heretofore disposed of. The part
however given to my Grand Daughter CHARITY JOSEY, to be the care of my Son
JAMES JOSEY, until my said Grand Daughter CHARITY JOSEY, shall arrive at the
age of Twenty One years, to them and their heirs forever. I furthermore
nominate and appoint my friend CORNELIUS MOORE Esq;
and my Son WILLIAM JOSEY whole and sole executors to this my Last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th
day of March 1815.

This Last Will and Testament of CHARITY HORNE dec'd was proved in open
Court by the oath's of WILLIAM GOORLEY, and ELIZABETH COPELAND subscribing witness
thereto, whereupon WILLIAM JOSEY, one of the executors therein named was duly
qualified. Ordered that the said Will be certified and
recorded.
