Jimmy Josey Sr. STATESVILLE James Albert Josey, Sr., 67, of Statesville,
passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013,
at Davis Regional
Medical Center.
He was born May 10, 1945, in Statesville,
and was the son of the late Mack Califax Josey and Venie Mitchell Josey. Jimmy attended Statesville
schools and on Nov. 14, 1964, he married
Sandra (Sandy) Carter Josey, who
survives. He worked for Dow Chemical, the FCX,
and in recent years he and his wife, Sandy,
have operated an antique shop called "The Shoppe," in downtown Statesville.
He was a member of Abilene Church of Christ, and was an avid Carolina
basketball fan and enjoyed people, fishing and hunting. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy L. Josey, Richard
"Dick" Josey, Charles "Buddy" Josey and Allen Josey; two
sisters, Viola J. "Sis" Waugh and Evelyn J. Lowrance.
Along with his wife Sandy, he is survived by his children, Jamie Albert Josey,
Jr., (Tracie), Candy Josey Troutman (Stephen), Penny Moore (Ray), Lars Carter
(Pat), Missy Beaver (Steve), Scott Carter (Tammy), and Angel Shelton (Rob). He
is also survived by 11 grandchildren including, Ashley Josey, Shawn Mabe, Caitlin Josey, Olivia Troutman, Addison Troutman and
Carter Troutman; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ellie; along with a sister,
Mary Josey Wiles (Dan), of Statesville. A service to celebrate the life of
Jimmy will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Abilene Church of Christ with Lamar Russell and Reg Morton officiating. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Bryan Taylor, Scott Carter, Commie
Pendergrass, Steve Beaver, Rob Shelton, Danny Wiles, Ray Moore and Josh Moore.
The family will visit with friends this evening, (Tuesday, Jan. 15), from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
