DARLINGTON — Funeral services for Mr.
Coit Josey Sr. will be at Saturday,
Aug. 18, 2008,
on South Main Street in Darlington.
The Rev. Flora McCurry will be officiating. The burial will follow in FaithMemorialGardens
directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Josey, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, in a Florence
nursing home. He was born in DarlingtonCounty, a son of the late Shelton
and Ella Watson Josey. He was the widower of Essie Yarborough Josey. He
public schools after which he served his country in the U.S. Army during World
War II and served his tenure until he was honorably discharged. Coit spent most of his life in DarlingtonCounty where he was a self employed
Survivors include his devoted son and wife, Coit C.( Jackie) Josey Jr. of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two sisters,
Etta Mac Wright Scipio of Atlanta and Mary Farrell of Florence; a grandson,
Nicholas J. Josey of College Park, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Eula Mae Josey of
Darlington and Bessie Samuel of New York; a brother-in-law, Malon
Yarborough of Darlington; a stepgranddaughter, LaKisha D. James of Union City, Ga.; five stepchildren; and
a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
