Mrs. Lucy Keck Josey
BEAR CREEK — Mrs. Lucy Keck Josey, 83, of 481 Ralph Moore Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
A native of Chatham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Carl “Mott” Josey. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sarah J. Howard of Bear Creek and Mrs. Helen J. Brooks of Graham; four sons, Mr. Arnold Josey of Denton, Texas, Mr. Lonnie Josey of Sanford, Mr. Earle Josey of Bear Breek and Mr. Wayne Josey of Siler City; a brother, Mr. Willard Jones of Siler City; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Pittsboro by the Rev. Jerry L. Sanders. Burial will be in Meronies United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City from 7 to 9 this evening.

Mrs. Debra Ann Josey Luke

THOMSON, Ga.- Mrs. Debra Ann Josey Luke, 36, of 2072 Central Rd. Ext. Thomson, entered into rest Dec. 21, 2003 at the Medical College of Georgia.

She was the beloved wife of Jeffery 'Rob' Luke for 18 years. Survivors include husband, Jeffery 'Rob' Luke, Thomson; son, Evan Scott Luke, Thomson; daughter Casey Michelle Luke, Thomson, mother, Mary Ann (Billy Parris) Josey, Warrenton, Ga.; brother Terry Josey, Washington, Ga. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence Edward Josey.

Mrs. Luke was born in Fayetteville, N.C. but had lived in Thomson most of her life. She was a 1985 graduate of Thomson High School and a member of the Civil War Reenactment Alliance. Mrs. Luke was also a homemaker and a member of Little Briar Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Butch Baston officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemet

 

 

Anthony Earl Josey

AMERICUS -- Anthony Earl Josey, better known as Booker, succumbed this life to cancer on Feb. 20, 2004. Graveside service is set for 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Mr. Clarence Josey Jr. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Leila Mae Josey; one sister, Mrs. Deborah (Raymond) Burks; four brothers, Mr. Clarence Josey III, Mr. Ronald Josey, Mr. Ernest M. Josey, all of Americus and Mr. Johnny F. Josey of Conyers; three nieces, Ms. Amber L. Josey, Ms. Leila-Chassity Jones and Ms. Rayven Josey Burks; three great aunts, Mrs. Earlene Josey Coleman of Newark, Mrs. Irene Johnson of Pompano, Fla. and Mrs. Ruby Josey of Cleveland; five aunts, Ms. Ozella White, Ms. Alma White, Ms. Doris Josey, Mrs. Viola Josey (James) Bridges and Mrs. Addie Pearl Josey; one uncle, Mr. Charlie "Seay" (Willie) Josey of Belle Glade, Fla. and a host of cousins and friends.

RICHLAND — Calvin Josey, 47, of Richland, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Baptist Church, with burial following in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Funeral services for Dance Josey, 71, of Climax, were held Friday, Feb. 27, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with elders Evan Blanton and Emery Carlton officiating.
Interment was in
Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Climax with Tim Blanton, Shannon Blanton, Brad Bates, Craig Bierbaum, Jimmy Shephard, Eddie Josey, Randall Josey and David Scott serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Josey died
Feb. 25, 2004, at Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Decatur County and a retired plant operator for Engelhard Corporation. He was a member of Community Primitive Baptist Church in Whigham.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Kelly Josey; two sons, Thomas Josey of Climax and Kenneth Josey of Donalsonville; two daughters, Patricia Blanton and Vicky Helms, both of Climax; two brothers, Grady Josey of
Panama City Fla., and J.C. Josey of Climax; a sister, Clara Mae Shephard of Climax; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Bobbie Jean Smith

Ms. Bobbie Jean Smith, 46, of Axson, Ga., passed away Friday, November 19, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Hazlehurst, Ga., following an extended illness.

A native of Clinch County, Ga., Ms. Smith was born December 31, 1957, the daughter of Mitchell (Buddy) and Madeline Braswell Adams. She previously worked at Cady Industries as an inspector and was a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sylvia Josey and husband, Ricky, of Hazlehurst, Ga.; her parents, Mitchell (Buddy) and Madeline Adams of Axson, Ga.; four brothers, Preston Adams of Pearson, Ga., John Adams of Mathews, Ga., Clarence (Bo) Adams of Cogdell, Ga., and Jimmy Adams and wife, Kittie, of Axson, Ga.; five sisters, Madie Rivers and husband, Ricky, of Pearson, Ga., Pamella Garrett and husband, James, Mary Luke and husband, Keith, all of Axson, Ga., Barbara Metts and husband Mike of Mora, Ga., and Bonnie Sue Adams of Cogdell, Ga.; four grandchildren, Justin Josey, Madeline Josey, Zachary Josey and Candace Josey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for were held at 4 p.m., Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Indian Mound Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Davis and Rev. Edgar Musgrove officiating. Special musical selections included ???Precious Memories??? and ???Amazing Grace,??? rendered by Candace Thrift, Terry Palmer and Regina Delk, accompanied by Betty Davis at the piano, and ???Go Rest High On That Mountain,??? rendered by Terry Palmer, accompanied by tape. Soft music for the prelude and postlude was provided by Betty Davis, pianist. Interment followed in Indian Mound Cemetery with Madie Rivers singing ???God On The Mountain??? at the gravesite.
