Fred Calfee Josey

SALISBURY - Fred Calfee Josey, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at his residence.

Born May 6, 1931, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Sadie Rainey Josey and Lee Josey. Educated in Rowan County schools, Mr. Josey was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Retired from the Rowan County School Bus Garage, he was the Transportation Director for 42 years.

A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he was also a member of Ronnie Sells Sunday School Class and a former deacon. He loved farming and dearly loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Kluttz Josey, whom he married June 25, 1956; two daughters, Debbie Doby and Peggy Pegram (Bobby), all of Salisbury; and four grandchildren, Brandon Doby (Leigh), Dustin Doby (Stephanie), Brittany Pegram and Blake Pegram.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2255 E. Ridge Road, Salisbury, NC 28144, with the Dr. Rick Cockerham officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by Rowan County Honor Guard.
