Dianne Saunders Josey, 71, formerly of 540 West Main Street, Danville, VA died in Charlottesville Monday, October 12, 2009 at the residence of her daughter. Born July 18, 1938 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Gertha Perry Saunders and the late Harry W. Saunders. She was first married to the late George W. Hill and later married to the late Fletcher Lee Josey. Dianne was a member of Stateline Baptist Church and the Red Hatters Society of the Dan. She was a graduate of DCC with a degree in cosmetology and was secretary at Melville Avenue Baptist Church before her retirement.

Dianne is survived by a daughter, Pamela H. Waller and husband, William of Charlottesville; a son, Kenneth W. Josey and wife, Janet of Danville; two sisters, Edith S. Gentry of Providence, NC and Mabel S. Tingen of Roxboro, NC and a brother, Jay Saunders of Broadway, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Busby (Lisa), Jessica Davis (Jared), Robert Josey, Billy Compton, and Teresa Duncan and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Nathan, Mary, Sara, Ashlyn and Hayden. Dianne is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Melville Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Swanson officiating.
